Moo Deng coin joins the ranks of other popular memecoins like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. Memecoins are digital assets that often gain popularity due to trending memes, particularly those involving animals. Moo Deng coin was created following the viral fame of a two-month-old pygmy hippo in Thailand.
This baby hippo, named Moo Deng, became an internet sensation after videos of her playful antics were shared on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Her name, which means «bouncy pork» in Thai, was chosen through an online poll in August.
Moo Deng’s celebrity status contributed to the rapid increase in the value of the memecoin named after her. Within 24 hours, the coin saw a 90% rise in value, driven by her viral presence on social media. Reports suggest that the coin's popularity is largely due to the hippo’s global online fanbase.
