Frontier Airlines offers free checked bags in promotion; check US companies with similar policy
Frontier Airlines on Tuesday announced a new promotion that features free seat assignment and one checked bag. This comes a week after Southwest Airlines decided to drop its brand-defining policy of allowing two pieces of free checked luggage.
On Tuesday, the airline started selling its “economy bundles” that include one free carry-on bag as well as no-cost seat selection and flight changes for its non-stop flights through August 18, 2025, Forbes reported.
Latest perks
Frontier Airlines is now offering a bonus of a free checked bag for tickets booked directly on its official website or app before March 24 for flights departing May 28 through August 18. Customers can avail the free checked bag option while booking with the promo code 'FREEBAG'.
Interestingly, the promotion kick-stars on the same day when Southwest Airlines is scheduled to end its policy of two free checked bags.
“We’ve always had heart,” Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said in an official release, taking an apparent swipe at Southwest.

Biffle said that while some airlines were «walking away from what travelers love,» Frontier is running towards it.
