capital expenditure target for central public sector enterprises (CPSEs) by 12-13%, people familiar with the matter said.
In absolute terms, the capital expenditure of 54 CPSEs and five departmental arms of government including Railway Board and National Highways Authority of India is expected at around ₹8.20-8.30 lakh crore for the next fiscal year, said the people cited above. The capex target for CPSEs for FY24 was set at ₹ 7.33 lakh crore, up 13.4% over the revised FY23 target of ₹6.46 lakh crore.
«The capex target for CPSEs is likely to be up by 12-13% in FY25,» a senior official told ET.
Latest data from the Department of Public Enterprises showed CPSEs have spent ₹5.51 lakh crore as of December 31, which was 75.1% of the combined capital expenditure target for FY24. This is higher by 22% for the same period last year.
