However, post ‘Darr’, there was a cold war of sorts between the two leads — Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol. Although both remained tight-lipped about their tiff until recently, neither of them was seen collaborating on another project ever again.
Recently, Deol finally opened up about his three-decade feud with the ‘Pathaan’ star.
In an episode of ‘Aap Ki Adaalat’, the ‘Gadar 2’ actor said that he had moved past the squabble and called it “bachpana.” (childishness).
“Woh zamana (those days) when it happened, that was a different time. I say 'People, forget what happened in those days'. One understands such things should not have happened. It was 'bachpana' (childishness), definitely,” he told the audience.
The ‘Border’ star also stated that he had met Khan for multiple times and revealed that the ‘Jawan’ star had watched the movie with his family and had also called him up to congratulate him.
The two 90’s stars were seen embracing at the success party of Deol’s recent venture ‘Gadar 2’ which crossed Rs 510 crore at the box-office.
It all started on the sets of the 1993 blockbuster ‘Darr’. Deol, who was the male lead, ended up feeling dissatisfied as he felt that the character of the antagonist Rahul Mehra (played to perfection by SRK) was given more screen time and hard-hitting dialogues by the director Yash Chopra. Although the film became a major success at the box-office, Deol swore not to work with YRF ever again.
Incidentally, Deol was offered the role of Rahul, the obsessive lover, but he declined it as he felt playing a negative role would hamper his prospects as a leading man.
