Sunny Deol can now finally heave a sign of relief. The auction notice for the ‘Gadar 2’ star’s palatial Juhu mansion has been withdrawn. The Bank Of Baroda issued a statement confirming the same.
“Corrigendum to e-auction notice with regards to sale auction notice in respect of Mr. Ajay Singh Deol alias Mr. Sunny Deol stands withdrawn due to technical reasons," reads the statement.
Earlier, Deol’s bungalow at Juhu’s Gandhigram road was put up for auction after the ‘Border’ star failed to repay a loan of Rs 55. 99 crore (which was due from December 2022) to the bank. The bank started a loan recovery process under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest (SARFAESI) Act, 2002.
The minimum bid amount for Sunny Villa was set at Rs 5.14 crore. In addition to the bungalow, the entire property around the house (599.44 square metre), which also houses Sunny Sounds, a company owned by the Deols, was set up for auction. Sunny Sounds was to be the corporate guarantor for the loan.
The property also houses Deol’s office, two post-production offices as well as a 70-seater preview theatre. Sunny Sounds is a recording studio. On the work front, Deol’s comeback movie ‘Gadar 2’ is doing phenomenally well.
It recently crossed Rs 377 crore at the domestic box-office. It is projected to cross the Rs 400 crore mark on the home turf soon. ‘Gadar 2’ is the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster ‘Gadar’.
Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma reprised their roles.
