non-consensual recording during intimate moments has been launched by German sexual health brand Billy Boy. The application, named Camdom, is described as a "digital condom" that blocks electronic devices from capturing audio or video without permission.
In an announcement, developer Felipe Almeida explained, “Smartphones are now inseparable from people’s lives and hold vast amounts of sensitive data.”
On its website, the makers say, «Camdom is your digital condom, blocking anyone from taking pictures, filming or recording audio without your consent.»

To address privacy concerns, Camdom uses Bluetooth technology to disable cameras and microphones on multiple devices simultaneously.
Before engaging in intimate activities, users activate the app by placing their smartphones nearby and swiping a virtual button. If anyone attempts to bypass the block, an alarm alerts all users of a potential breach. “If one user tries to sneak out, an alarm signals a potential threat of non-consensual recording,” a company representative stated.
