The dogs involved in the incident, Taru and Buzzo, are two-year-old strays who were adopted by Singh's family. One of Singh’s daughters is actively involved in caring for street dogs in the Khoda colony, which may have led to the objections from their neighbors.
The attack unfolded after one of Singh’s daughters took the dogs outside. Allegedly, Kunwar Pal and other men on bikes assaulted her. According to the FIR, the attackers later entered Singh’s home around 11:30 p.m. with Kirodi Singh and Pal. The group, armed with knives, threatened and mistreated Singh’s wife and daughters.
In a bid to protect their family, Taru and Buzzo intervened. They engaged the attackers, sustaining severe knife wounds in their abdomen and head while forcing the men out of the house.
The police registered the FIR under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 333 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 352 (intentional insult), and 325 (maiming or killing an animal). Despite being
