Sonam Bajwa and Gippy Grewal's latest release 'Carry On Jatta 3' is one of the most amazing box-office success stories. With a collection of more than Rs 65 crore in just one week since its release, the blockbuster has also become the highest-grossing Punjabi film in the world. In just one week, the movie has collected a total of Rs 66.40 crore, according to the movie's production house Humble Motion Pictures.
Directed by Smeep Kang, 'Carry on Jatta 3' was strategically released before the Eid holidays on June 29 to make the most of the extended weekend. On the release day, the movie did more than Rs 10 crore, and the opening weekend had a bumper collection of Rs 46.56 crore, a few crore short of the Rs 50 crore club. Besides Grewal and Bajwa, the movie stars Binnu Dhillon, Kavita Kaushik, Jaswinder Bhalla and Gurpreet Ghuggi in main roles.
Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk also made a special appearance. After the movie's release, the makers and cast also got into some legal trouble when a complaint was filed at Jalandhar police station for alleged derogatory content. The complaint filed by Shiv Sena (Taksali) said that Grewal, Binnu Dhillon and Gurpreet Ghuggi have «violated the faith of millions of Hindus by throwing water on the 'Havan Kund' as this ritual is performed before carrying out any work in Hindu religion.
Meanwhile, singer-actor Grewal has already started filming for his next Punjabi movie 'Shinda Shinda No Papa'.
