Government settled Rs 2,302 crore under Vivaad Se Vishwas scheme so far
Vivaad Se Vishwas scheme which was launched this year to settle contractual disputes and claims of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and (MSMEs) who failed to comply with central government contracts during Covid period, Finance Ministry said Tuesday.
The centre has received over 900 claims worth Rs. 20,000 crore under the Vivaad Se Vishwas scheme (II) for contractual disputes out of which it has settled claims worth Rs.
1,652 crore.
«Claims worth Rs. 1,652 crore have already been settled and the remainder is under examination by the respective Ministries/ Departments/ Organisation,» the finance ministry said in a series of tweets.
For the contractual dispute for Covid period, the centre has settled claims involving more than Rs.
650 crore by MSMEs. «As on 01.12.2023, 43,904 claims involving more than Rs.
650 crore by MSMEs settled by the Government» the ministry said.
Vivad se Vishwas scheme was announced in Union Budget 2023-24 and was launched in two parts.
The first stage was launched on 11th April 2023 for disputed claims during the Covid period. Last date for submission of claims was 31.07.2023.
The Vivad se Vishwas II scheme was launched on May 29, 2023 for settling pending public procurement related contractual disputes of the Central Government.
The last date for submission of claims was 31.10.2023, which was later extended by another two months to December 31.
The scheme covered all domestic contractual disputes where one of the parties was the Government of India or an organisation operating under its control.
The scheme said that for all court awards passed on or before 30 April 2023, contractors will be offered settlement amounts up to 85% of the net amount awarded or upheld by the court.
