Green Day's Saviors Tour concert at Comerica Park in Detroit on Wednesday night (Sept. 4) was paused unexpectedly when the band abruptly ran offstage due to a drone spotted hovering within sight of the stage. Stadium security pulled the band offstage to deal with the potential safety issue, which was resolved by the Detroit Police Department (DPD). The band returned after about 10 minutes to resume the show for nearly 41,000 fans in attendance.
Reliable sources confirmed to Billboard that the drone was unauthorized, prompting the sudden exit. After a few minutes of confusion, the video screens displayed a message stating, «Show Pause. Please standby for details.»
When the band returned to the stage, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong addressed the crowd, asking, «How you doing? We’re gonna pick up where we left off.” He also requested that fans put away their cell phones, saying, “Pull ’em out later. Let’s be here right now.”
After performing a furious rendition of “Welcome to Paradise,” Armstrong declared, “Ain’t no motherf—er that’s gonna stop us, I’ll tell you that.”
The show continued without further incident, and Green Day later posted an apology on social media. “Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue. DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding.”
