Kylian Mbappe's rough night at Newcastle is far from fading away, as bakery chain Greggs is now humorously teasing the PSG star.
Mbappe had a forgettable performance in PSG's 4-1 loss to Newcastle in the Champions League on Wednesday. Despite playing the entire 90 minutes at St James' Park, he managed just one shot and posed little threat to the Newcastle defense.
A Newcastle fan shared a picture of a dejected Mbappe with the caption: «I was confident about a win, predicting a 2-1 victory. The team had other plans last night, though.
This guy was probably thinking about Greggs steak bakes all night. Right here, he looks like he's licking his lips, thinking about his next one.»
Greggs, the bakery brand, couldn't resist the opportunity to join in on the banter. They quote-tweeted the post and wrote: «He's welcome to come 4-1 this morning...».
This trolling only adds to Mbappe's woes.
French newspaper L'Equipe rated the superstar attacker just 2/10, stating that Mbappe «barely made an impact» and was «very disappointing» in the first half.
The reigning French champions suffered a convincing defeat at the hands of Eddie Howe's team. Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff, and Fabian Schar all found the net to secure a resounding victory for the dominant hosts.
Theo Hernandez managed a consolation goal just before the hour mark, but by then, the game was already out of reach. Manager Luis Enrique struggled to hide his disappointment with another disappointing result.
«It wasn't the game we wanted to play, obviously.
