Asian Games has ensured that India's shooting contingent bettered its 2018 Asian Games' performance.
Sift scored 469.6 points in the final against 462.3 from silver winner Q Zhang of China, such was her dominance in the medal round. Ashi Chouksey won bronze in the same event, making it a double delight for the countrymen.
India has so far won three gold, two silver and five bronze medals from the shooting range, better than last edition's tally of two gold, four silver and three bronze medals.
The total medal count so far is 10, one more than last time.
More medals may be added to the tally from Indian shooters when Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh will fight it out in Women's 25 meter Pistol final. Anantjeet Singh Naruka has also qualified for the final of men's skeet event.
Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan grabbed another gold in the team event of 25 meter Pistol event.
Manu ranked first in the qualification round, with Esah and Rhythm coming fifth and seventh. Normally, the first eight qualify for the final in shooting but according to Asian Games rules only top two from a country advance to the medal round.
Earlier, the Men's 10 meter Rifle team comprising Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrakksh Patil and Divyansh Singh Panwar grabbed the first gold for the country.
At the Jakarta Asian Games 2018, India won two gold medals — both from the Pistol discipline.
