Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai defeated Congress' Anandaswamy Gaddevarmath by 43,513, according to the latest update from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Bommai got 7,05,538 votes, while Gaddevarmath received 6,62,025 votes. Bommai was the state's CM from 2021 to 2023. He had taken over from veteran BJP leader BS Yediyurappa after he announced retirement from electoral politics. Bommai was voted out of office in 2023 and Congress formed the government in the state.
The election in Karnataka was held in two phases on April 26 and May 7. Haveri voted on May 7.
