Uttar Pradesh Police has introduced the 'Savera Yojana' to offer rapid assistance to citizens above 60 years of age. As per a TOI report, through the helpline number 112, senior citizens living alone can avail themselves of regular home checks by a police team, ensuring their well-being. The program will benefit senior citizens who live alone by sending a team of cops to their homes on a regular basis, beginning with a 'Hello uncle' greeting.
Around 13,000 individuals have already enrolled in the program. The initiative aims to provide immediate support during emergencies by maintaining records of senior citizens and offering swift police response through the integrated helpline system. Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra told TOI that the Savera Yojana would enhance response time and prevent delays in addressing senior citizens' concerns.
To register, citizens can visit the nearest police station or use the 112 helpline." Under the program, the UP Police will retain a list of senior residents under their authority so that they may provide prompt assistance in the event of an emergency. A police response vehicle will be dispatched promptly. According to Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra, senior folks are frequently unable to obtain assistance in a timely manner, resulting in them being victims of harassment and other crimes.
In view of this, the UP Police Department has launched the Savera Yojana. Mishra stated that due to population density, PRVs are frequently delayed by 2-3 minutes when they contact the caller again to obtain their address. According to him, the endeavor will reduce reaction time.
