Jaipur, a pet dog named Popcorn was snatched away during an evening stroll, which prompted an exhaustive four-day police search involving the meticulous review of approximately 200 CCTVs and the thorough examination of 20 hotels, stated a TOI report.
The three-year-old Shih Tzu named Popcorn was successfully located on Saturday. The search of the missing canine not only resulted in finding Popcorn but also unearthed a gang of wanted vehicle thieves.
Two members of this gang were arrested, and three stolen motorbikes were recovered by the police.
The entire event started to unfold when a 34-year-old woman, residing in Model Town locality of Malviya Nagar, reported to the police on Thursday about Popcorn's sudden disappearance. SHO Poonam Kumari initiated an investigation into the case.
The trail led to the involvement of a 29-year-old individual named Ranjit Yadav, who had the responsibility of taking the dog Popcorn and another pet, Sweetcorn for walk. While Yadav himself did not carry out the abduction, he was connected to the incident in some way, Kumari told TOI.
As per the police report, the incident occurred during the evening stroll when two unidentified men engaged the caretaker in playtime with Popcorn and Sweetcorn.
Seizing the opportunity, the men snatched Popcorn and escaped in a car that had no number plate.
The woman reported the incident at the Malviya Nagar police station, resulting in the filing of a case under IPC Section 379 (theft), and an intensive search operation was initiated. The woman relentlessly kept visited the police station, fervently pursuing any lead that could bring Popcorn back home.
