On February 17, Delta Flight 4819—a Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft operated by Endeavor Air—took off from Minneapolis, Minnesota, heading toward Toronto, Canada. But what should have been a routine landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport quickly turned into a harrowing incident. The plane crash-landed and flipped upside down, leaving all 76 passengers and four crew members scrambling for safety.
Miraculously, all passengers survived. However, 21 people were transported to the hospital with injuries ranging from back sprains and head injuries to symptoms of nausea and vomiting due to fuel exposure. Three passengers suffered critical injuries, though none were life-threatening, according to Toronto Pearson President and CEO Deborah Flint.
Footage from passengers inside the aircraft shortly after it flipped over spread rapidly across social media, capturing the terrifying aftermath. Air traffic control audio also revealed the tense moments during the emergency response. Deborah Flint praised both the crew and emergency responders for their quick action, which likely saved lives.
