Aadhaar is a vital identity document for citizens in the country, containing important information like name, address, photo, biometric data, and other key identity details. It is widely accepted as a crucial proof of identity in both government and non-government settings. It is important to keep the information on Aadhaar, including the photo and address, up to date.
Now citizens of India can update their Aadhaar card identification through online mode with the help of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for free. The free services were only possible due to the government initiative, Digital India initiative. The myAadhaar portal can help with this process, myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
Individuals can also update their Aadhar card details offline by visiting the official Aadhaar centres. However, offline updation will require a small fee of rupees 50 for every change/update they make to their Aadhaar.
The UIDAI is allowing Aadhaar cardholders to use a free update service for details like Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (PoA) until December 14. This doesn’t affect other updating services provided by the government body for Aadhaar-related changes. It’s important to note that this service doesn’t cover updates for details like Name, Gender, Date of Birth, or Address in Aadhaar.
The UIDAI is encouraging individuals, especially those with Aadhaar cards issued a decade ago that haven’t been updated, to upload documents for Proof of Identity and Proof of Address (PoI/PoA) to revalidate their demographic details.
