Netflix has announced that it is ending password sharing in India, stating that only members of a household will be able to access a single account. As per Netflix statement, only members living within the same household will be allowed to access an account. It has introducing a subscription tier that includes ads while cracking down on password sharing.
In a recent email to its Indian users, Netflix urged them not to share their passwords with individuals outside their households. The company clarified that a Netflix account is intended for use within a single household, allowing all members to access the service on various devices and take advantage of new features.How will Netflix enforce the password sharing policy As per reports, to enforce this policy, Netflix will restrict access to its content to users connected to the same internet connection as the account holder. Anybody who is not a part of the «Netflix Household» will not be able to access the content.
Unauthorized users attempting to access the account from different internet connections will be logged out and guided on how to create their own accounts. The company will utilize information such as IP addresses, device IDs, and account activity to determine whether a device is part of the designated household.
