Spy Kids movie director Robert Rodriguez has teamed up with Netflix for the reboot movie in the franchise, titled Spy Kids: Armageddon. The first look of the film has been released, and this time, there will be a new family of spies. Here’s what we know about the new movie. The original Spy Kids franchise director Robert Rodriguez had written, directed and produced Spy Kids: Armageddon. He was also behind We Can Be Heroes, set in the Spy Kids universe, which is one of the most watched spy movies on Netflix. We Can Be Heroes was a sequel to The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (2005).

Spy Kids: Armageddon was announced on March 30, 2022. The film was slated to release on Netflix in May 2023, and then pushed to after August 2023. Now, People magazine has confirmed that Spy Kids: Armageddon will be premiering on Netflix on September 22, 2023.

The synopsis of Spy Kids: Armageddon reads: “A relaunch of a classic family franchise which will revolve around the activities of a multicultural family. Tony and Patty must use all their gaming skills to save their spy parents who have been kidnapped by an evil man.” A Netflix synopsis reads: “When the children of the world’s greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful Game Developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology, they must become spies themselves to save their parents and the world.” Now, it’s a similar plot to the Spy Kids first movie, with spy parents (played by Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino) who are in danger, and their kids Juni (Daryl Sabara) and Carmen (Alexa PenaVega) come to their rescue.
