Wolverine is heading for a divorce!
Hugh Jackman, best known for playing Wolverine, the lupine protagonist with claws for hands in the ‘X Men’ franchise has reportedly divorced his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, after 27 years of marriage.
In an interview with People, the Australian couple stated that although they were fortunate to have a “wonderful, loving marriage,” they have decided to part ways in order to focus on individual growth.
“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” they said in a joint statement.
The ex-couple also said they planned to co-parent their kids. “Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives,” they told the magazine.
The pair, who have been married since 1995, have two kids — a 23-year-old son named Oscar and an 18-year-old daughter named Ava.
The duo met on the sets of the Australian sitcom ‘Corelli’ in 1995. After a year of a whirlwind romance, they walked down the aisle. Back then, she was an established actress, while he was a newbie.
As per a Page Six report, the divorce may have been inevitable. An anonymous source, close to the former couple told the magazine that the couple had simply drifted apart. Although no third party was involved, they gradually became disinterested in continuing the relationship and “morphed into roommates.”
