A hydraulic press allegedly used to crush human bodies was discovered in Sednaya Prison near Damascus. A video showing the device, ropes and bags was posted online. The press reportedly crushed bodies after executions. The remains were bagged and discarded outside the prison.
The video describes the machine’s purpose and includes a caption stating how bodies and bones were crushed. Blood channels were reportedly built beneath the press. The claims have not been independently verified.

Amnesty International labeled Sednaya Prison a «human slaughterhouse» and accused the Assad regime of executing up to 13,000 people between 2011 and 2016. The organization documented systematic torture and secret killings in the facility.
