The suspect, Gurumurthy, reportedly informed Madhavi’s parents that she had left their home following an argument about visiting a relative. However, during police questioning, Gurumurthy allegedly admitted to murdering his wife in a fit of rage on January 15.
Police sources revealed that Gurumurthy tried to erase evidence by dismembering her body in their bathroom. He then used a pressure cooker to boil the remains and a pestle to grind the bones. Over the course of three days, he is said to have packed the remains in a bag and dumped them in a nearby lake.
Authorities have deployed clue teams and a dog squad to search for the victim’s remains in the lake at Meerpet. However, as of Wednesday, no conclusive evidence had been recovered. Meerpet SHO K Nagaraju stated that the case is still being treated as a «missing person» investigation until tangible proof of murder is found.
