Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has announced support for NDA in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. MNS would unconditionally support NDA, for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's sake, party president Raj Thackeray said during a rally in Mumbai's Shivaji Park on Tuesday.
«The country needs strong leadership. I told them I don't have any expectations; for Narendra Modi, I am extending unconditional support for BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP,» Thackeray said.
«The Maharashtra chief minister has been telling me for a year or so that we should come together. Fadnavis also said the same thing. I didn't understand what it meant. So, I met home minister Amit Shah… I have told Fadnavis that I don't want any LS seat or Rajya Sabha seat, but I want a strong leadership for the country to resolve issues,» Thackeray said.
BJP and Sena offered MNS to have its candidate contest on their symbols, but he rejected the offer, Thackeray said. «The railway engine (MNS symbol) is the product of my cadre's hard work, it was not a gift. There would be no compromise on the symbol,» he said.
On criticising Modi during the 2019 elections, Thackeray said, «I didn't like some things, so I opposed. There was nothing personal against him. However, I praised them on Article 370 and the National Registry of Citizens. I'm not like Uddhav Thackeray who personally attacks Modi. You (Uddhav) are opposing because you didn't get what you wanted. You are selfish.» Raj took potshots at BJP and MVA who have people jumping from one party to other.
