Lil Tay and her brother Jason Tian has turned out to be a hoax, and fans of the 14-year-old singer and influencer are relieved to know that the duo is alive. The news of the siblings’ death was fake, even as fans were wondering about the contradictory statements attributed to her parents Angela Tian and Christopher Hope. In a statement exclusive to TMZ, Lil Tay has revealed that she is alive and so is her brother.
«I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive,” she said to TMZ. “But I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours.
All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess.» Lil Tay explained that her Instagram handle had been hacked and someone had put out a statement on behalf of her parents that their children had passed away. Lil Tay told TMZ, «My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not „Claire Hope“.» After the viral death hoax, an Instagram story had been put up on an account that allegedly belonged to Lil Tay’s mother Angela, which said that her daughter is alive.
The unverified Instagram handle said, “the mother of Claire & Jason”, and put out a message on an Instagram story, saying, “My daughter is well and alive!” with a picture of Lil Tay. There were also other posts on Instagram supposedly from Lil Tay and Jason, claiming they were alive but that they had issues with their parents. There is no explanation yet if this post is authentic.
