IIT Kanpur (IITK) and the Indian Navy recently formalised their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Naval Headquarters. The primary objective of this MoU is to foster technology development, innovative solutions and collaborative research and development (R&D), according to an official release.
This agreement establishes a comprehensive framework that facilitates capacity building for both parties. It aims to address field-level challenges by providing effective solutions and improving training through the exchange of faculty and guest lectures, the release mentioned.
“This collaboration serves as a testament to IIT Kanpur’s dedication to advancing knowledge, fostering strategic partnerships, and contributing to the nation’s defence capabilities through academic and technological prowess. As a premier institution known for its cutting-edge research and technological advancements, IIT Kanpur can bring its expertise to address real-world challenges faced by the Indian Navy,” S. Ganesh, director, IIT Kanpur, said.
The strategic partnership emphasises joint research and development initiatives, bringing together teams from the Centre of Excellence in Marine Engineering at INS Shivaji, Lonavla and IIT Kanpur, as per the release.
