Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary, was unable to join her brother Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh due to health reasons. She was hospitalized for dehydration and nausea, as confirmed by party sources.
Priyanka expressed her disappointment in a post on X, stating, «I was eagerly waiting for Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to reach UP. But due to an illness, I had to be admitted to the hospital today itself. I will join the Yatra as soon as I feel better.» She extended her best wishes to the yatris and her brother for the journey from Chandauli to Banaras.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed skepticism over Priyanka's absence, with IT cell chief Amit Malviya suggesting underlying tensions within the Congress party. Malviya highlighted what he called «the irreconcilable gap» between the Gandhi siblings. He pointed out Priyanka's absence at the beginning of Yatra 2.0 and her current absence as the yatra reached UP, implying a rift in the party's leadership.
Posting a screenshot of Priyanka's post, Malviya said: «Everyone should take care of their health. When Yatra 2.0 started, Priyanka Vadra was missing and today when Rahul's Yatra has reached UP, she was again not there. This irreconcilable gap between them for ownership of the party is now well known.»
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in UP, led by Rahul Gandhi, is set to follow a two-part schedule, covering significant districts such as Varanasi, Allahabad, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Lucknow, and Kanpur between February 16
