Narendra Modi on Friday while pitching for his third term, said that he is a Prime Minister who has delivered on all the promises made.
Invoking the 'Modi guarantee', the Prime Minister linked the economy of the country with that of his government coming to power, saying that in his third term, the country would become one of the top three economies in the world.
«I have given a guarantee to my countrymen that India will be among the world's top three economies in my next term,» said Modi while addressing a rally in Solapur.
The rally was held in the backdrop of the PM symbolically handing over home keys to around 15,000 families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Recalling that he had inaugurated the housing project in 2019, Modi said that the completion of the project showed that the Modi guarantee meant that the promise would be honoured.
Becoming sentimental during his speech, Modi said that he didn't get the same opportunities during his childhood. «I saw these houses, only if I too had been given an opportunity to live in such houses in my childhood.
I feel great seeing that thousands of families have their dreams accomplished,» said Modi.
The Prime Minister while naming the schemes that his government introduced for the poor — building houses, piped water supply to people's homes, Ayushman Bharat Yojana — said that unlike previous governments at Centre, he believed in empowering the poor and getting them to stand on their feet.
The Prime Minister said that one of the reasons he is being targetted by people from some quarters is because he has removed the «middlemen '' from government schemes.
