Steve Smith registered his 33rd Test century in the third Test against India at GABBA, Brisbane on Sunday. It was his 10th Test ton against India in just 41 innings, the joint most with Joe Root.
This was the 35-year-old's first three figure score since June 2023, between which he had played 23 innings, the most number of innings he had gone without a hundred.
The batter was dismissed for 101 off 190 balls after entering the crease when the score was 38/2. Travis Head joined hands with Steve Smith at 75/3 and the duo added 241 runs off just 302 balls for the fourth wicket to put the hosts in a strong position.
India started the day on a good note with Jasprit Bumrah getting openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney in the first five overs of the day. Marnus Labuschagne's horror series continued as he managed only 12 runs before edging one off Nitish Kumar Reddy.
