external affairs minister S Jaishankar said India has begun to take manufacturing seriously, adding that the world's perspective towards the country's technological landscape has changed in the past decade.
Speaking at the ET Awards in Mumbai, the minister said, «India is beginning to take manufacturing seriously. Without manufacturing, no one will take you seriously on technology,» he said.
«There is a very big difference in the way the world sees us in terms of technology over the last ten years. People see there is a much bigger effort for innovation, startups and skilling,» the minister added.
Jaishankar also said that with the probability of a third consecutive term of the BJP government gives an impression of stability in governance and ease of doing business in the country.
He also highlighted the strong correlation between India's aim to become a super power and use of technology.
«If you can capture the new industries coming up today, like semiconductors, renewables, green clean tech and space, we should make that push. We cannot be a major power without technology. You cannot have technology without manufacturing,» he said.
