According to Chakrabarti, who has led a policy think tank in San Francisco for the past five years, he was motivated to run by fears over government regulations and the apparent disconnection between current leadership and voters' everyday struggles.
Chakrabarti in a post shared on social media platform X, that his campaign would be about meeting directly with the voters and that he was keen to do this differently compared to the traditional model of campaign. He claimed «I’m going to spend every day talking with voters. I know! What a radical idea.”
He stated in his post “Watching Trump and Elon freely unleash chaos in their illegal seizure of government, it’s become clear to me that the Democratic Party needs new leadership.”
Chakrabarti acknowledged that it was an uphill battle to challenge Pelosi, who has held the seat for over two decades. According to The Hill report, Chakrabarti said that it was a tough battle to defeat incumbents.
