IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad ropes in Wiaan Mulder as replacement for injured Brydon Carse
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has signed South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder as a replacement for England pacer Brydon Carse, who has been ruled out of the upcoming TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to injury.
Mulder, who has played 11 T20Is along with 18 Tests and 25 ODIs, joins SRH for ₹75 lakh. The all-rounder has taken 60 wickets in international cricket and has scored 970 runs across formats.
Carse was originally picked by SRH for ₹1 crore but will now miss the season.
SRH, the runners-up of IPL 2024, will be looking to maintain their momentum after a strong campaign last year. The team had endured a tough phase from 2021 to 2023, finishing eighth in 2021 and 2022 before ending at the bottom of the table in 2023. However, they made a stunning comeback in 2024, playing an aggressive brand of cricket that put opposition bowlers under pressure. Their batting firepower, led by Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen, saw them break the record for the highest first-innings score three times during the season.
The Orange Army will kick off its IPL 2025 campaign against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Hyderabad on March 23. They will play a total of 14 league matches, with key fixtures lined up against Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
