2025 IPL season fast approaching, the BCCI has laid out the updated rules and retention policies for the upcoming mega auction, introducing a few key changes to boost the auction's competitiveness.
Additionally, this Diwali, October 31 promises more than just fireworks in the sky; the IPL 2025 retention announcements will light up the cricket world as franchises are due to submit their retention lists by 5 PM.
Captains and star players, particularly those who have shown consistent form, are likely to be prioritized. Young and emerging players, often seen as future assets, are also high on the retention list for many teams. Additionally, some teams are exploring options for uncapped players, who can be retained at lower costs, providing valuable flexibility for franchise budgets.
Each franchise will have a total auction purse of ₹120 crore to construct their squads. Teams are allowed to retain up to six players, including a maximum of five capped players (Indian or overseas) and up to two uncapped players. Retentions can be done through either direct retentions or Right to Match (RTM) cards.
