Congress now limited to just two states in the South, BJP is now aligning its focus with southern lines. And with its growing vote share in Telangana despite Congress’ recent victory in the state, the saffron party is shifting its focus towards South.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was upset with the opposition's attempt to draw the “north-south” divide, purely for partisan considerations since Sunday afternoon, sources told TOI.
“It needed to be said and he said it forcefully. A technically sound batsman resorting to a slog sweep to hit the ball for a six,” said a party functionary.
PM Modi on Tuesday criticized opposition parties and their supporters for creating a divisive narrative of «north vs south» in the aftermath of the BJP's success in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
He also expressed disapproval of the disparagement of voters in these three states while simultaneously celebrating the Congress's triumph in Telangana.
«Be prepared for many more meltdowns,» PM told opposition.
