It looks like being wronged in such circumstances has become a tradition for England, as this time, in a very similar fashion, Freuler extended his hand to stop the ball headed towards the box, after a brilliant cross by an English player. England went through on the basis of penalties after being tied 1-1 throughout the 90 minutes and managed to stay resilient and held their nerve till scoring their last penalty and winning the game. However, this did little to calm down England fans who were furious at Daniele Orsato, who was appealed to grant a free-kick for Remo Freuler's alleged foul.
England fans claim that the match may not have gone towards penalties and could have ended within 90 minutes if the 'Hand of God-like' incident did not happen. Social media is currently buzzing with posts about the referee's competency in such a prestigious event like Euro Cup 2024. Meanwhile, a BBC commentator was also seen joking about Freuler's 'save'.
