Earlier, Pakistan used to keep its weapons development programs focused and limited to its primary enemy: India. However, it now looks like they are looking at other hostility options, and have expanded their nuclear weapons program a little further, which is being seen as a huge risk to the international community, especially the United States. Moreover, with the rising tensions in the Middle East, the last thing the US would want is to Pakistan suddenly going all hostile.
American intelligence is completely boggled by the data about Pakistan's missile development program that has recently been publicized, which White House believes could land up on US soil someday. Therefore, there are major chances that the US would try and stop this program with all their powers, and would undoubtedly get some help from India and its allies in the Indian Subcontinent. It is yet to be seen what China's strategy about this could be.
