Janis Timma, a Latvian basketball player, had been discovered dead in Moscow following what appeared to be a suicide.
The 32-year-old's body was discovered inside the entrance of a residential block in central Moscow, according to an unidentified emergency official who spoke to the state-run TASS news agency. The official stated that suicide was the initial cause of death, as quoted in a report by The Moscow Times.
Although the cause of Timma's death was not immediately known, the emergency official informed TASS that a phone with his final wish on it was discovered next to his body. The Ren TV channel was informed by an anonymous source that the text call Anya showed up on his phone.
Anna Sedokova, Timma's ex-wife and a Russian-Ukrainian pop star, went by Anya. She celebrated her 42nd birthday on Monday and announced this autumn that she had filed for divorce after four years of marriage.
In a tearful Instagram post on Tuesday, Sedokova said that the past few years had been hell for her and urged her followers to support her in keeping her young children from learning of Timma's passing. Timma and Sedokova don't have any children of their own, but they do have children from past marriages.
