Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance with the ball earned him the Player of the Series award in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, even as India fell to a 3-1 defeat against Australia. Bumrah, who ended the series as the leading wicket-taker with 32 scalps, was a shining light in a campaign where Indian batters struggled to find their rhythm.

However, the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) ended on a disappointing note for both Bumrah and the team. Battling back spasms sustained on Day 2, Bumrah was unable to bowl in the second innings as India failed to defend a modest target of 162, conceding a six-wicket loss.
Reflecting on his injury and missed opportunity to bowl on a challenging pitch, Bumrah admitted the setback was frustrating but acknowledged the need to prioritize his health.
«A little frustrating, but sometimes you have to respect your body, and you can't fight your body. Sometimes you have to accept. Would have loved to bowl on the spiciest wicket of the series. Just had a little discomfort after the first innings,» Bumrah said during the post-match presentation.
