Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday launched men’s premium shirt brand Kut For You stitched by women in his assembly constituency of Shiggaon in Haveri district.
On the occasion, he also announced a new facility in Shiggaon, which, he said, would add about 500 jobs for local women.
“This facility represents not just growth for us, but a chance to uplift even more lives,” Bharath Bommai said at an event marking the launch of the brand in Bengaluru.
“Our product offerings are not just about fashion, it is more about empowerment of women, Bharath Bommai, the former CM’s son, who advises the family-owned shirt brand, said.
The facility in Shiggaon currently employs about 700 women, while Kut For You’s associate firm Prabhanjan Apparels runs another modern unit in the neighbouring Davanagere with about 400 women.
In about a year’s time, both units would together have about 2000 women working, Bommai Jr said.
Prabhanjan Apparels, he added, had been supplying apparels for multiple global brands. As Kut For You shirts, they would sell them only through the brand’s portal in India, and was working on making them available through online marketplaces in Europe, the US, Middle East and Australia.
