Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday rewrote the history of men's T20 cricket by producing a chase that occurs once in a blue moon.
Sent into bat, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 261/6, but PBKS completed the chase with ease amid a batting onslaught from their top-order batters.
KKR rode on a 138-run partnership between openers Phil Salt (75 off 37 balls) and Sunil Narine (71 off 32 balls).

The batters that followed the openers consolidated the home team's position and took them to an imposing total of 261.
While chasing a record total of 262, PBKS started on the fast lane as boundaries kept raining with Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh going all guns blazing at the iconic Eden Gardens. In the end, PBKS sealed an 8-wicket win, marking their third win of the season.

- Highest Successful Run Chase: By chasing the target of 262, Punjab Kings set a new world record for the highest successful run chase in the history of T20 cricket. PBKS surpassed South Africa's 259/4 against West Indies in March last year. In the IPL, Rajasthan Royals held the previous record for chasing down 224 against KKR at Eden Gardens, equalling the record they had set against then Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2020 in Sharjah.
- Most Sixes: On Friday night, records tumbled within the blink of an eye, with sixes raining down throughout the game. The high-scoring run fest featured the highest number of maximums in the history of T20 cricket.
