Lady Gaga's next album from film, Joker: Folie à Deux, might be another smash. The sequel to the Oscar-winning Joker is set to hit theatres in early October, and the singer is doing everything she can to capitalize on this historic event, including producing music related to the film.
On Friday (September 27), Gaga released her new album Harlequin. The set includes a compilation of standards that will apparently appear in the film, as well as a limited handful of original tracks—at least one of which will be heard in the movie. The title quickly became a bestseller, outpacing the flood of new releases.
Harlequin is currently number one on the U.S. iTunes albums chart. The set rocketed straight to the top quickly after its release and has remained there for hours, proving to be the most exciting new launch this Friday.

Gaga just gave the world a few days warning before releasing Harlequin. After teasing that something was coming on social media and via billboards that promised a project she called ‘LG6.5’—noting that it would be a bridge between her sixth full-length and her upcoming seventh, which she’d already discussed—the Grammy and Oscar winner revealed on September 24 the cover, album title, and that the set would arrive at the end of the week.
