Lionel Messi's Inter Miami teammate Facundo Farias has revealed that his wife was against the idea of joining him Inter Miami and moving to the US. He has already scored three goals and an assist in his first 10 games in Major League Soccer. The early signs have indicated that the attacking midfielder could prove himself to be an incredibly astute addition to the Herons. But it was not a smooth beginning.
Talking to 'The Athletic', Farias said that his wife Angi did not want to leave Argentina and join him in the US. Explaining the reason, he said that she was studying for a degree when the offer came to join Lionel Messi in Miami.
Farias said, «She was studying her major but we had to move here. She wanted to kill me! But I told her, ‘We’re going to play with Messi!'»
Farias convinced her wife somehow and they moved to Fort Lauderdale alongside their infant son Valentino.
The midfielder suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury back in September 2022 and missed a few matches. He said, «Every summer I was linked to a new team. It never happened to me and that can affect your mentality. But my injury happened for a reason. I came back from it with a purpose. I wanted to be stronger and thankfully Inter (Miami) came with an offer.»
Farias left Argentine Club Atletico Colon to join Inter Miami in July 2023. He made this decision to fulfill his dream of playing alongside his childhood hero Messi.
