Yuzvendra Chahal has been sold to the Punjab Kings for a staggering Rs 18 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, one of the marquee buys of the season already.
The seasoned leg-spinner, formerly with Rajasthan Royals, renowned for his wicket-taking prowess, had a successful stint last season, further solidifying his reputation as one of the game’s top spinners.
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru were in fray to bag the spinner alongside Punjab.
Chahal, 34, is India’s leading wicket-taker in T20s, boasting an impressive tally of 96 wickets in just 80 games. His record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is equally remarkable; he currently holds the title of the only bowler to surpass 200 wickets, with an impressive total of 205 strikes in 160 matches.
This stellar performance has made him a sought-after player in the auction, and his base price of Rs 2 crore was seen as a bargain for teams looking to enhance their spin attack.
