Lulu Group plans to expand the reach of hypermarkets to smaller towns of Kerala and Uttar Pradesh besides proposed significant mall developments in Ahmedabad and Greater Noida, said a senior executive.
The company is considering cities like Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, and Banaras for small-scale malls with a hypermarket focus.
Additionally, the company is in the process of building five similar properties in Kerala.
«We have successfully secured partnerships with the government for Banaras, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, and Noida. The food park in Noida is in its final stages,» said Jayakumar Gangadharan, regional director of Lulu Lucknow.
«We are also considering Greater Noida for a mall, which is projected to have an area exceeding one million square feet.»
The company, which operates a 2.2 million-square-foot mall in Lucknow, plans to open 2-3 standalone hypermarkets in the city. The malls in Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, and Banaras will have an area of 3-4 lakh sq ft.
«We are receiving numerous requests from within Lucknow and nearby cities for establishing a hypermarket.
We have conducted surveys and will go ahead with them,» said Gangadharan.
«Lucknow is poised to serve as the flagship location for these malls. The demand from customers to inaugurate malls in areas like old Lucknow, Mahanagar, Sitapura Road, and Gomti Nagar has been noteworthy.
