Vivek conducted a survey in Mumbai, Konkan, and western Maharashtra to analyse the reasons behind BJP's electoral setback. The report said BJP members and other individuals expressed disapproval of the party's decision to join forces with NCP. It described the unrest among party members as just the «tip of the iceberg».
A few days ago, Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal, a member of the rival NCP faction led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, met NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar. There was talk of Bhujbal feeling unheard within the party. Although he is part of Ajit Pawar's faction, he is said to be feeling politically alienated within the party.
