The IMD has forecasted heavy rain for Mumbai, its suburbs, and the neighboring districts of Thane, Palghar, and Raigad. A high tide alert has been issued for the afternoon. On Tuesday, a yellow alert is in place for Mumbai and Thane, while an orange alert has been issued for Wednesday. The red alert extends to Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa until July 24, and West Madhya Pradesh on July 22.
Since Saturday evening, the heavy rain has caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of Mumbai. Authorities remain on high alert to manage the situation. A mobile tower collapsed in Bhandup, damaging several houses but fortunately causing no casualties. Images of waterlogged police stations have circulated on social media, underscoring the severity of the situation.
In response to the heavy rainfall warning, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed teams across Maharashtra. Teams are stationed in Mumbai, Nagpur, Vasai (Palghar), Thane, Ghatkopar, Powai (Kurla), Mahad (Raigad), Khed, Chiplun (Ratnagiri), Kudal (Sindhudurg), Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara to assist in emergency operations.
