Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), allied with Ajit Pawar's NCP faction and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena under the Mahayuti banner, will take on the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition of the Congress, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction, and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT).
In total, 4,136 candidates are vying for the 288 seats, of which 234 are in the general category, 29 are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 25 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
“Voters must carry their Voter ID or an approved identification document and ensure their details are correct on the voters’ list to avoid inconvenience,” said an Election Commission spokesperson.
Maharashtra has 97 million eligible voters, including 4.97 crore men, 4.66 crore women, and 20.93 lakh first-time voters aged 18–19. There are also 1.85 crore young voters aged 18–29.
