crane while watching a live accident. As per a report in the Times of India, the incident happened in Chennai near Panaiyur on East Coast Road. The victim has been identified as Rasheed Ahmed, a resident of Zakeer Hussain Street in Panaiyur.
As per the report, the man was engrossed in witnessing the after-effects of an accident near Panaiyur on East Coast Road where a gas tanker truck, travelling from Chennai to Mamallapuram, lost control as the driver dozed off, causing the truck to collide with a roadside shop and a car. Fortunately, no one was injured in this initial accident. Many passersby who witnessed the aftermath of the accident stopped near the site to take photos.
Among them was Rasheed Ahmed who was riding his bike at around 4 am. Engrossed in observing the scene, Ahmed ventured closer to the accident spot. However, tragedy struck again when a crane, coming from Kovalam, collided with his bike.
As a result of the collision, Ahmed sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to the Government Royapettah Hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors declared him dead upon arrival. In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, residents of the area staged a protest, alleging that Ahmed's life could have been saved if the rescue operation had been more prompt.
The incident should come as a cautionary tale for everyone who witnesses a road accident. While offering help to the accident victims, do keep an eye on incoming traffic and other hazards. During any accident on highways, there is always a chance of pile ups involving multiple vehicles.
