Ilayaraja has issued a legal notice to the producers of the Malayalam movie "Manjummel Boys" for using a song he composed for the Kamal Haasan-starrer "Guna" (1991) without authorization. The notice is directed at Soubin Shahir, who also played a significant role in the film, as well as Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony of Parava Films. Ilayaraja asserts his legal, moral, and special rights over the song "Kanmani Anbodu Kaadhalan," stating that he retains the right to pursue legal action for the improper and unauthorized use of his original musical work in the movie.
«Manjummel Boys,» a Malayalam survival thriller, has been streaming on Disney+ Hotstar since May 5. Written and directed by Chidambaram, the film premiered in theaters on February 22 in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, receiving widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics. The movie went on to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film, earning over Rs 200 crore and surpassing the record set by «2018,» India's official entry to the 2024 Academy Awards.
