March Madness 2025: High Point Panthers' historic NCAA berth sparks viral celebration
High Point Panthers were elated after the team achieved a historic milestone in the Big South Tournament Championship game last week. The Panthers booked a spot for the first time in the NCAA Tournament with their victory.
Two High Point University students, Jimmy Rosselli and Griffin Wright, have now gone viral for their exuberant celebration to the Panthers’ 81-69 win against Winthrop.
High Point’s big win
High Point University worked miracles during the contest with their spectacularly fast 24-2 scoring surge in the second half. The team managed to overcome a 15-point difference to emerge victorious.
Rosselli and Wright decided to film themselves at the game after they found that broadcasts from High Point’s quarter- and semi-final fixtures got a lot of attention on social media. The duo didn’t have a phone with enough storage to film for an hour without any interruptions. So they decided to go live on instagram and archive the video later.
A university radio broadcast featuring Rosselli and Wright as they called in the final moments of the game went viral on Instagram. Their emotional response to the win garnered a lot of fans. The duo can be seen expressing a range of emotions in the clip as they announce High Point’s win. At one point, Rosselli and Wright clutched each others’ jackets for moral support.

Roselli and Wright on viral moment
For it to go viral is just the craziest thing that’s ever happened to us,” Rosselli told the New York Times.
“We’re just two idiots who love sports, and we love doing it together. It’s kind of like ‘Dumb and Dumber’ over here, but it’s a lot of fun,” Wright added.
