Matrix Partners India, an early investor in startups such as OfBusiness, Dealshare, Ola Electric and Quikr, on Monday said it has promoted three of its principals, Aakash Kumar, Pranay Desai and Sudipto Sannigrahi, to managing directors.
The Bengaluru-based venture capital (VC) firm took to X, formerly Twitter, to make the announcement late evening and said, “We are thrilled to have these talented leaders on our team, and we look forward to their continued contributions to the firm.”
Each of the three new managing directors is a seasoned operator-turned-VC executive. An IIT Bombay alumnus, Kumar began his professional career as founder and chief executive of Wings Intellect, a virtual and augmented reality software startup.
Subsequently, Kumar spent the next years across senior management roles at companies such as Rahul Yadav-led Housing, smartphone application marketplace Indus OS, and Hotstar. He joined Matrix Partners India in 2022, where he focuses on investments in sectors involving artificial intelligence, gaming, blockchain among other frontier technologies.
Desai, an alumnus of IIT Guwahati and Indian School of Business spent a little over seven years across multiple senior management positions at Freshworks. At Matrix Partners India, which he joined in 2022, he leads business-to-business software-as-a-service (B2B SaaS) investments for the firm, some of which are Moengage and
